Introducing The Little Fighters Project: Professional Newborn Photography for NICU Babies

As a mother of two preemies, one of whom spent months in the NICU in Nashville, TN, I know firsthand how difficult and emotional the experience can be. It's a time filled with uncertainty, fear, and hope, as families wait and watch over their little ones. I also know how important it is to capture these moments and memories. Even though NICU babies may need extra care, they are still newborns when they come home from the hospital, and they deserve to have beautiful photos to commemorate this special time.

Meet Taylor- the owner of Taylor Pierce Photography and her two NICU babies. Taylor's first baby was born at 25 weeks gestation and spent just over 5 months in the NICU. He weighed only 1lb 11oz. Her second baby was born at 36 weeks gestation and weighed over 7lbs! He just needed some extra assistance with breathing and feeding. He spent 2 weeks in the NICU in Murfreesboro, TN. Now they are both thriving!

That's why I'm thrilled to announce the launch of The Little Fighters Project, a charity program dedicated to providing free newborn photography sessions to families whose babies have spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Most newborn photographers, myself included, recommend sessions within the first 2-3 weeks of life. However, I understand that's not always possible for NICU babies, but that doesn't mean professional portraits are not an option.

Our mission is to capture and preserve the precious moments of these little fighters, while also bringing joy and comfort to families during what can be a difficult time. We believe that every baby and family deserves to have beautiful, professional photos, and we're committed to giving back to our community by providing this service as a charity. A long NICU stay doesn't mean you should miss out on the adorable newborn pictures of your most precious baby. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of these families and celebrate the strength and resilience of these little ones. They are extraordinary!

Here's how it works: every month, we select one family to receive a free newborn photo session. We understand that not every applicant will be able to receive a session due to the limited availability, but we encourage all families who have spent time in the NICU to apply. We ask for basic information about the baby, the family, and their NICU experience, as well as a brief message about why they would like to participate in the program.

Once we receive an application, we carefully review it and select a family based on their story, need, and availability. The family chosen from those eligible will be random. We will notify the selected family via text and provide them with the details of their photo session, including the location, date, and time.

As a photographer and a mother who has been through the NICU experience, I understand the importance of capturing these precious moments. I know that these photos will be treasured memories for years to come and will provide a source of comfort and joy for families during a challenging time.

If you or someone you know has a baby who has spent time in the NICU, please consider applying for The Little Fighters Project. We're honored to be able to give back to our community and to support families during their NICU journey. Let us capture the beauty and strength of your little fighter and help you celebrate this milestone in your family's journey.

Thank you for celebrating The Little Fighters Project, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Warmly,

Taylor Pierce Photography
